In the chaotic dance of
life's challenges and stressors, uncovering joy
can sometimes feel like chasing a slippery eel.
But fear not! There's a simple remedy waiting
to burst out of all of us – laughter.
Unfortunately,
this magical medicine has been kept under wraps
for generations. It's high time for us to reclaim
our joy and laughter. Let me take you on a journey
through my laughter-filled life and shed light
on the enchantment that is laughter yoga.
To me, laughter stands as the polar opposite
of stress. The science may not exactly say that,
but it sure feels that way. Stress clutches us,
stops proper breathing and unleashes stress chemicals
like cortisol and adrenaline. It throws us into
fight, flight, or freeze mode. Laughter, however,
is a switch of pure magic. It releases the love
drugs – dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and
endorphins. It's not just a sound; it's a physiological
antidote to stress. Read

A prescription
to laugh
Laughter yoga offers surprising
health and fitness benefits
American humourist and writer Mark Twain got
it right: “The human race has only one really
effective weapon and that is laughter.”
You can laugh at a Seinfeld episode, giggle at
your friend Sue’s punny wordplay- but you
don’t actually need a reason to laugh.
You can … just … laugh.
Welcome to laughter yoga, a series of movement
and breathing exercises to help you laugh —
for no good reason!
Usually practised in a group, laughter yoga is
a variety of specific exercises — simple
breathing techniques, clapping and chanting —
led by a trained laughter yoga instructor. Once
you’re warmed up, your instructor might
move to improv exercises, gentle stretching, yoga
breathwork and meditation.

we’re stressed.” ~ Kathryn

Mental Health
Through Laughter Yoga
A woman in Bradford, Ont. combines laughter and exercise
to promote positive mental health and well-being. Cathy
Nesbit of Cathy's Chuckle Club teaches laughter yoga,
offering a free, online class every Tuesday.
"I think the most important part of laughter is
the oxygen. When we're stressed, we're not breathing
properly, so our body isn't getting what it needs and
for sure our brain isn't," Nesbit said. "When
you give yourself permission to engage in this …
and break through that resistance, the magic happens." Read

Shona Sneddon has been running laughter yoga classes
about once a month.
“Everybody can laugh, you know, and we can all
ideally laugh at ourselves. We're so caught up in what
people think about us. So Laughter Yoga just gets us
out of the box,” sheexplained.
“One of the principles is the childlike play.
We look at children, they're laughing and laughing and
we're wondering, what are they up to? They're just laughing.
They're not up to anything. And that's what we need
to take on,” Cathy Nesbitt, another Certified
Laughter Yoga Teacher said. Read

Daily
D.O.S.E. of Laughter
They say that laughter is the music of life, a
universal melody that resonates within every human
soul. Like an enchanting tune that uplifts and
inspires, the act of laughter echoes across the
hallways of human interaction, transcending the
boundaries of language and culture. For this week's
Boss Your Business Podcast, I'll be taking a delightful
detour from our usual business-centric discussions
with our guest whose mission is to create joy
in the world but also raise the level of awareness
about environmental conservation! Watch

Laughter goes with Everything - with Cathy Nesbitt
the Crawling, Laughing, Bean Queen.
In this episode, I'm talking with Cathy Nesbitt
who has a number of strings to her bow, including
worm farmer, mung bean sprout advocate and laughter
yoga practitioner. Cathy spent much of her corporate
life working as a secretary for a number of different
companies and came to realise that, if you don't
like what you're doing – move. Serendipity stepped
in and a combination of a bizarre request from
a teacher friend and an advert for a business
development course opened up a whole can of worms
– pun deliberately intended. Listen

Cathy Nesbitt's home of the greater Toronto area
started to ship their garbage to the USA when
their landfill closed (did you know this? I sure
didn't!), and she felt pulled to create a solution
to help lessen the trash in her community. She
overcame her fear of worms to start a composting
business: teaching people, especially those with
limited outdoor access, how to compost in their
homes. In an interesting turn of events, this
led to her discovery of laughter yoga, which changed
her life. Listen
